That's great to know, it must have been an incompatible simconnect dll associated with the original fsx installation.

Had the identical (side-by-side) issue. This thread led me to the solution which was to upgrade FSX from SP1 to SP2. Didn't even know there was an SP2. All good now. Or at least. Squakbox starts... now to figure out if I can connect...
