New to PE Need training

Hi there, new to PE and ATC really. Reading a very good book which has a work book but the real world is better. I picked a Delta class airport. I have gone though the ATC workshop and it has helped. Like a movie may need to see it again. I have flown FS for many years so know the aircraft well and I am going through Ground School, I tried the first flight but I had a scenery issue so that airport did not work. I was thinking KPSP Palm Springs and just take of, fly a pattern and land. Any suggestions for someone new at this part of flying in the Sim world
