LA Basin Practice areas

I used to fly over to our West practice area at my local airport when I was a student pilot. I would get a squawk code and be off - stating that I am heading to WPA(West Practice Area)
I was wondering if this is emulated on the PE network? And if the controllers would know where I was going if I mentioned a practice area - depending on airport? I have never heard anyone say they are going to a practice area on PE.
I found a .PDF about all the practice areas in the LA Basin - too large to attach, but here is the link:

I would like to use these areas for stalls, slow flying. steep turn practice as I did in r/w. and to be able to still have PE understand where I am at and why.
