For anyone who wants to do a non-towered to non-towered flight of just under an hour, we're planning a trip from L52 - Oceano County to L70 - Agua Dulce. Restrictions at L70 require we fly into L70 before sunset. You should also be aware of noise restrictions at L52. This will be a single engine piston flight. I flew my Bonanza F33A from L70 over to L52 last night. The only suggestion I have concerning aircraft is that we all fly aircraft with similar capabilities. I don't care whether we fly something in the C152 to C172 class or if we fly something faster like a Mooney or Bonanza. I suggest we fly VFR using CTAF for communication between pilots. I can do this flight this evening after 22:30 ZULU , 3:30 PT.

As for scenery, PilotEdge has X-Plane scenery for L70 and I am working on getting some L52 scenery for us.

Post here your intentions if you want to join in this afternoon or if you can't make it today, let me know a day and time that works better.

Andrzej,

Let's make it 23:00 ZULU. Soph flies out at 22:00 ZULU. I'll need time to get back from the airport and fire up X-Plane.

See you later!

Steve

OK, Steve, 2300Z will be fine. If you will not make it on time, I will wait.

Are we going to use FLW GMN and LHS for navigation or you want to fly it totally by visual references? :)

I was planning on flying via this route:

GLJ FLW GMN LHS

Pretty much the same you mentioned, with the addition of GLJ. I'm planning a RWY 29 departure with a left turn to GLJ after the shoreline, as indicated in the airport remarks.

Sounds good except that we do not know the winds yet, we might take off rwy 11 with right turn toward GLF, which will end up the same. Get the slower plane or you will be drinking beer by yourself waiting for me ..lol

If I may suggest...consider meeting on 123.45 (full duplex channel, allows you to have a conversation like you were standing in the FBO with your buddy before heading out to the plane), then swap to the published CTAF for the airport (122.70 for Oceano). Announce takeoff intentions, depart the pattern then swap to anything you like. 122.75 is a standard air-air freq, or you can continue to use 123.45 if you prefer to simulate more of an intercom with 2 ppl flying in the same plane.

Enjoy!

Thanks Keith, we will do that. may I ask you a question? I know you posted a link for frequencies but I can not find it. Where 123.45 come from/ What frequency is it? Could you share that link again,Ii would bookmark it.

AIM 4-1-11, Tbl 4-1-3

That shows the 122.75 air to air freq. 123.45 is an oceanic air to air freq if memory serves, but I can't find the reference. Informally, it's used within the USA as an air to air freq, too. I made a change in our code to handle 123.45 as an intercom/chatroom rather than a single duplex radio. If you hold down your PTT and talk on any other freqs, you won't be able to hear anything else while you do it (like a real radio). If you hold down your PTT and talk on 123.45 at the same time as someone else, you'll both hear each other.
