Re: Garmin G1000 Hardware

Nice find. I know of three other ones, and this is by far the least expensive. The hardware I have is from Emuteq. "How much does it cost" is always the first question people ask when they see it, so it will be good to tell them about an alternative. That page doesn't give much info about which ...

Re: Multiple controllers heard simultaneously

Ah, that makes sense. I imagine it can get hectic juggling that many frequencies simultaneously.

Re: Multiple controllers heard simultaneously

Well I did hear the instructor take over at one point (though the trainee seemed to be doing fine), but initially, I switched to the tower frequency and was talking to him, but I could still hear the last controller I was with speaking to other pilots on the approach frequency. That's why I had to ...

Re: Multiple controllers heard simultaneously

Gotcha, thanks for the clarification. I was also having other issues with the audio (between my headset and external speakers), as this was one of my first flights on PE, so wanted to make sure I didn't have anything configured incorrectly.

Multiple controllers heard simultaneously

I understand that the controller I'm communicating with is working other frequencies and I'll be able to hear them speaking on those frequencies, but should I be hearing multiple controllers at once? On a flight just now, I got handed off from Mugu approach to a different controller at Camarillo ...

Re: Flight1Tech

Yes, I start with it cold and dark. To get it to start that way, you have to shut everything down, then just save the flight. You can save it as the default flight so Prepar3D will start up that way.

Re: Flight1Tech

Ah, I see what you're saying. I thought you were referring to the Saitek panel when you were asking about the multi-engine. I don't have the Baron add-on, but I've flown their default DA-42, and it works well.

I fly the Iris DA-40 and Carenado Skylane among other payware aircraft. I usually don't ...

Re: Flight1Tech

I got the G1000 Student Simulator (not the pro version) with the cockpit builder plugin, which lets you remove the bezels, position the windows and use the hardware's knobs and buttons. The pro version does all that without the plugin, but it's almost twice as expensive (you're paying for the ...

Re: Flight1Tech

Yeah, that sounds like your best bet. I was running the G1000 on the same machine when I first got it, and it ran okay, but I wanted to free up the video cards for more outside monitors. There's a photo of my setup on page 8 of the pilot introductions thread if you're interested:

Re: Flight1Tech

Great on the whole, but here are a couple negatives for the sake of completeness.

There are a few things that aren't modeled, but nothing major that would detract from using it as a learning tool. Of course, it doesn't have some of the newer G1000 features like synthetic vision, but perhaps they'll ...
