I joined a virtual group a while ago called the Virtual Pilots Association. So far it has been pretty fun, but they only reward online flights done on VATSIM and IVAO, and a lot of the pilots are not in the US. Some of the things I like about them:

Thanks for the awesome detail in this reply @_jx. I like the "write the flight plan out in 'double dot form'" notation - I have not seen that before but it does make it very clear when reading the flight plan.

The rules of an IFR visual approach are
- maneuver however you like while taking the most direct route to your runway
- maintain VFR conditions
- keep the airport in sight at all times
