Re: Setting the altimeter in X-plane
Great, thanks for all the help. I'll look into learning how to use PlaneMaker, and I'll also look into the radio panels and SimAvio as well.

Re: Setting the altimeter in X-plane
Unfortunately, I have the third option, Xplane 10 64-bit >_< Is it already confirmed that VisualAltimeter doesn't work with this version? If not, I'll download it and give it a try.

Setting the altimeter in X-plane
Hello,
Newly instrument rated IRL, and back on PE to practice my new skills. Last night I was flying Jason Chandler's Arrow in X-plane, and I noticed that it's very hard to read the altimeter setting off the face of the instrument. Unlike in FSX, there doesn't seem to be a way to "mouse over" the ...

Re: Switching frequencies too quickly
Thanks Keith.
Just to clarify, isn't there one more time when you may switch frequencies without being explicitly told to do so by ATC? That being the situation in which you're leaving the airspace of a class D field. I remember once I got into trouble with that. I was departing Schnectady County ...

Re: Switching frequencies too quickly
Hi Anthony,
Thanks, that's very helpful! I think the main source of my confusion was that I got confused between the procedures for departing IFR from an uncontrolled field and departing a Class C field (probably because I've never done either one in the real world). I'll keep the rule you ...

Switching frequencies too quickly
Hi,
I have a question about departure procedures at John Wayne airport, based on an interesting interaction I had with ATC a few days ago. You can hear the relevant radio calls in this recording (I'm N43138; not sure if all the background noise in my transmissions is due to low bandwidth or the ...

Re: Flying with Altered Time
I hope it's allowed to change both the time and the weather, as I've been doing both while working through the VFR ratings. (SNA has had a low overcast lately that prevented VFR operations.) I also changed the time from night to day so that I could see landmarks better.

Re: Question about SFRA entry/exit
Thanks for the explanation, Keith. So just to be clear, canceling flight following before entering the SFRA, then getting in touch with a different controller (say, LAX tower in order to do the Mini Route) won't interfere with the tracking of my V3 completion progress? I'm just asking because for ...

Question about SFRA entry/exit
Hello,
First of all I want to say that, as a low-time real-world pilot I'm having a great time on PE, and it's been a great help in keeping my "aviation brain" engaged when I can't afford to fly in the real world. I think this will be a great help in staying current on radio procedures and ...
