Re: [Jul 17] Adding SFO to coverage area
Wow, that's really big news. I hope it stays.

Re: ZLA Scenery
MegasceneryX SoCal is one of the nicest sceneries made...probably far better than the Megascenery 2 California will be.

Re: Question about ATC Procedures
You could also let ground control know (really, you'd have to, right?) Generally, they won't make you go to Clearance Delivery if you're on the taxiway or runway...they'll just handle it since they probably won't want to run the risk of needing to talk to you when you're on CD frequency.

Is there some way to make Pilot Edge sound VHF?
I was wondering if there's a way to make it sound like real ATC.

Re: DME arc approaches in PE airspace
Just a mile or two north of the PE airspace, Paso Robles (KPRB) has an arced approach to runway 19 and an arced VOR/DME. It doesn't have a tower.

Re: I thought I was getting the hang of this until..........
Curiously, I had a very similar experience on Sunday, IFR from KLAX to KSNA, flying the ILS full approach. I got traffic called out to me just as I started my course reversal at SAGER. Conditions were partial IMC -- I was in and out of clouds at 3500' -- but I could see the traffic on my TCAS. The ...

Re: I thought I was getting the hang of this until..........
Well, in my mind, the reason to give traffic is to let you know so you can avoid it, not watch it like a movie. I'd have done what you did, adjusting my flight path and tell ATC what I did.

Re: Scary Near IFR Encounter
Rob, agreed. Even without PE, simply spending a boatload of time in a sim can help a great deal. I do believe PE takes it to another level of effectiveness and workload, but even without it, still useful.

Re: Scary Near IFR Encounter
A good enough simulator will do a great job of recreating the disorientation of suddinly finding yourself in hardball IFR weather. I've felt it in my own sim a few times, and in both the 727 & Lear simulators. It takes some practice to get used to. Then just when you do you try it at night and you ...

Re: Scary Near IFR Encounter
Flying real IMC in a plane is much different than a sim. Disorientation is a real deal and requires real training. The sim helps immensely with procedures, radio, and navigation. However, real IMC flying can make you sweat on the coldest day. I had no idea. It certainly takes practice. Safe flying ...
