FaceTrackNoIR and X-Plane

Post by BonanzaDude »

I went through the forum post exactly as described here and it is supposed to work with X-Plane.

http://xp-aviators.com/index.php?topic=634.0#

Also saw this on the x-plane.org forums.

I am not getting it to work correctly. Is anyone using this program with X-Plane?

I will take a stab at it later this week....maybe the weekend.

....knowing me I will either not get it working and get frustrated or get it working but want the proper solution and eventually buy the TrackIR.

My wife only knows of half the money I throw at this little hobby, software and subs I can obscure, a silly hat with reflectors on it just may draw some attention ;)

It's frustrating because it works fine in Prepar3D and FSX. This would be awesome if I could get it to work. It's tough getting used to the new views (new X-Plane user) and trying to define different settings.

What helped me was mapping the hat switch on a joystick to the quick pan directions in X-plane. Also Control key + num on keypad is a short cut to lock a view:

1. Right click to position the view in a spot you want it later, maybe use the arrow keys to fine tune it.
2. Press Control and and number on the keypad at the same time--Example is I set the straight ahead pilot view to "num key 4" using this, so when my view get out of kilter a tap of the "num key 4' will center it.

I do all my looking around with the keyboard, Q W R F, comma and period plus zooming with the - + keys, then I save the views with quicklook as Steve describes above. These are saved on a per-airplane basis.

That was my next question. Are they saved per aircraft. That is a GOOD THING!!!

I'm getting more used to X-Plane every time I fly it. But I have many many years of MSFS and P3D under my belt. :o
