Was wondering the correct way to have TrackIR work with Windows X-Plane 10.
On my Mac, there was a simple plugin that assigned activation to a joystick button to activate it. How do I install/use TrackIR now with Windows?

Took me a little while to figure out what you need is X-camera. It's pay what you want, but I don't believe TrackIR needs the registered version anyway.

And I found something too... Well someone pointed it out to me.
It's built in now. There is a downside to using the built in feature... You no longer have preset views from my understanding, that's on for me as I didn't use them anyways.

I don't have a TrackIR, but my recollection is that even though Xplane natively supports it, it doesn't support as many degrees of freedom as the plugin, so everyone continues to use the plugin.

Glad you brought this up... I can't look down more than 30 degrees. Issue. Guess I'm going to use the plugin.

That's not connected to X-Plane, probably you need to adjust the position of the clip or the sensor (or bothKyle.Sanders wrote: Glad you brought this up... I can't look down more than 30 degrees. Issue. Guess I'm going to use the plugin.

The degrees of freedom issue with X-Plane is another one. Roll motion of the head is not supported without plugins.
But even if you deactivate the roll axis in the Track-IR software (which I do), you will probably find X-Camera (or Sandy Barbours Pilot View plugin: http://www.xpluginsdk.org/pilot_view.htm) essential, as there is at least one very important function you can make use of, an that's setting boundaries for the translation movement of your head.
Normally, when you move your head far enough to the left/right/front/back/top/bottom, you will find yourself outside of the cockpit or at least half way through some wall or panel. With both plugins you are able to set boundaries in order to have a defined box in which movement is possible.
