If someone finds a product intimidating, then a suggestion to download a lot more planes, scenery and plugins is not going to make the simulator less daunting. That suggestion would be perfect if someone were to say, "there's no scenery and I don't like the default planes...any ideas?"

There's no question that msfs is going to bring more ppl, and it will be a lot more than 2x since msfs has > 95% of the retail market. I haven't really begun marketing the platform properly even in the xplane community yet. The current participation levels don't reflect the end-state of xplane participation, either. There's a long way to go.

There are reasons that I haven't opened the flood gates on the XP side yet, and they're mostly to do with the readiness of the site for those who aren't r/w student pilots. I'm working on that, and then I will pull out all of the stops.
