For FSX, the Citation Mustang from Flight1 is extremely fun to fly -- it's really not a whole lot more difficult than flying any G1000-based glass cockpit airplane, and Flight1 has done an amazing job of modeling the G1000. It doesn't do everything the real G1000 does, but it does MUCH more than any other G1000-based plane I've flown (well, except for Flight1's Cessna 182T, which has the same G1000 in it....).

Tim -- I'm quite surprised that you like the Chandler Citation Mustang in XPlane (or did you not mean XPlane? Does he have an FSX version too?). I found the XPlane Citation Mustang basically unflyable (or at least, highly unenjoyable). After engaging "altitude hold" on the FMS, for example, the airplane porpoises like crazy -- it won't hold altitude at all. The G1000 implementation is very weak (especially after flying the Flight1 Citation Mustang in FSX).

Yesterday I bought the Alabeo Waco YMF5. I flew her from PSP to OXR.....what I thought would be a little more than an hour ended up being just shy of two hours. One of the most enjoyable PE flights I've ever done! Love the sounds and feel of this plane! Cruise speed: 110kias. Sweet, sweet ride! Now I've got some pattern work to do to hone my tail wheel landing technique.

With that said, I fly around 90% GA on PE. Mostly in my Carenado Mooney M20J, but I am partial to my Carenado V35 Bonanza....wait....no.....my Carenado C185 Skywagon......er......well......my Carenado C208B Caravan......but.....you know.....the Carenado C152II is a wonderful little trainer...and the Carenado Archer II is a great /A plane to learn navigation in.....oh....so many decisions.....then again, the flight modeling on Chandler's Piper's is pretty much spot on and you can't beat the price of $1 a plane.......and then he's got those jets, too......

I often fly my LEG2 (Lancair Legacy), HXB (experimental 100-200 kts - normally my RV7A), BE60 (Turbine Duke in this case... FAA says BE60 but ICAO is B60T for turbine), L39 (love that lotussim bird!!), C510 (Citation Mustang), P180 (Piaggio Avanti II)

In case you couldn't tell I prefer GA flying but love to go fast!!

Steve, I am a huge fan of the alabeo waco. Let me know when you're around, and I'd love to do a flight with you around the coast. I love flying out of VNY in my classic birds. There's something nostalgic about it.

BE33 ( Carenado), JS32 and CRJ2 ( Javier Rolonn) for X-Plane.

WD,

That sounds like a great plan! We should put together a Waco fly-in. Of course we would invite any other low and slow aircraft, but I think this is a wonderful idea. I actually had the same idea while I was flying PSP to OXR. Last night I flew her from OXR over to VNY. The winds were too nasty to land at VNY so I diverted to BUR. She's not really a night bird, but I flew her at night anyway and had a blast. I'll PM you later and we can work up a VFR flight plan and post it for anyone/everyone else to join us.

I'm quite fond of my Beechcraft Baron 58 (although I still taxi like a drunken salior... but that's probably more to do with my crappy joystick). Cockpit/controls-wise, the 58 isn't all that scary if you're used to a Cessna (compared to a small jet, for example), and yet I don't have to cruise around the expansive SoCal/PE area at just 125kts since the 58 cruises nicely at around 200kts... and happily handles speeds closer to half that for low/pattern work or sightseeing. There's also something real sexy about starting up two props rather than just one

Beyond that, I'm might venture into some IFR Learjet work real soon (and/or the CRJ... once I upgrade my FS9 to FSX... my next project!).

I noticed that some of the later IFR ratings really suggest that you should be using a jet. Can anyone recommend an "easy" to fly entry level jet for going through the rest of the IFR ratings? (preferably for X-Plane)
I'd try the Cirrus Jet that comes with X-Plane. It's as simple as a jet can be, and it will be rated for one pilot in the real world.
