Thank you, Keith. Interesting that it is happening only with one controller. is there anyway to crank up the "natural" volume so it matches the compensated volume?

As I said, I'll look into it with him.

Keith , I realize that there are much more important things going now but did you have a chance to talk to the Controller? Cheers, AJ

Yes, I wrote to him on the same day. He's been making a concerted effort to speak more loudly and clearly. I've compared the before and after, and I think it's much improved.

Thank you Keith. FYI, last night, I had a chance to hear the Controller and some transmissions had the same volume from the beginning but few were done the "old"way, very low volume , then increase in volume.
I will not bother you with that anymore unless someone else confirms that action.
Maybe it is just on my side but why would it happen only with one Controller? Weird. Cheers, AJ

I have an iMac and am using headphones and the iMac built in microphone. I have the engine, prop and other sounds at 15% and the ATC sound at 100%. When I connect, I adjust the OSX master volume to my liking. The works very well for me.

Only issue is my kids and the TV, but that's not the fault of PE. :-)

It is NOT the volume of the whole transmission that I complain about. It is the very few first seconds, maybe 2 seconds when the beginning of the transmission is VERY low and then picks up to the volume I select via X-Plane and my headset.

The good news is that I talked to the Controller via PM and he was not sure why or how the software is dealing with the process I described but he was very concerned and told me the in the future he will do 2 things.

He will try to start talking louder at the beginning of the transmission ( that would be hard to remember to keep doing it all the time ).

Second, he will add empty "and" at the beginning of his transmission so the software "has time" to adjust the volume and the call sign is heard with the same volume.

I know that my hearing problem does not help the case but I thought that maybe someone else experienced that, that is why I posted.

More good news, I was flying on PE after we talk with the Controller and it seemed to be much better after applying his "tricks".

Thank you. Cheers AJ

AJ, I too have noticed the "ramping up" of volume over the course of a controller's transmissions. It starts super low upon keying the mic then gets louder after a couple of words. Doesn't always happen, in fact it's pretty seldom from my experience, but it is there.

Just confirming that you're not the only one (and not going crazy!).

He won't be prefixing transmissions with "and" any time soon if he'd like to remain employed as a controller. :)

I've flown with him since he's starting talking more loudly (plain and simple), and it appears to be working well. Adding extra words, or delaying transmissions is not the way of the future.
