I absolutely agree with Keith, the scenario seems way too unrealistic. My guess is that this was a one-time thing and it's nothing that will be spent much time practicing. Yes, it's a BAD situation, but it's also important to teach pilots to NEVER give up no matter how hopeless it is, aswell as pushing your limits. But then again, within reason.. He probably wanted to see your reaction.
