I am still, to this day, more nervous talking to pilot edge controllers than talking to actual So Cal controllers on the radio. I think maybe it's because PE feels like a real community and I want to sound good in front of y'all, but when I talk to so cal I'm just another tail number in the system and I don't care what I sound like.
