Hello Again Everyone,
I was just wondering how you would announce your intention to do pattern work with touch and gos at an non-towered airport such as Oceano County.
Thanks for the help.

If it is an uncontrolled field nothing in the FAR states you have to say a thing, however...you should. The preferred entry into the pattern is a 45* entry on the downwind leg. Basically, you should announce on Unicom the "who you are, where you are at and what you are doing" for every step of the pattern. Let's use rwy 29 as an example. You should announce your intentions no later than 5 miles from the field so the other traffic can adjust an you can get an idea of what is going on, if there is other traffic. Your calls should go something like this:

Initial call: Oceano traffic, "your type and tail #" 5 miles to the southwest entering a left downwind from the 45 for runway 29 for pattern work, Oceano

Downwind call: Oceano traffic, "your type and tail#" left downwind runway 29, touch and go, Oceano

Base call: Oceano traffic, "your type and tail#" left base runway 29 touch and go, Oceano

Final call: Oceano, traffic, "your type and tail#" final runway 29 touch and go, Oceano

After touch and go: Oceano traffic, "your type and tail#" upwind ruway 29 remaining in the pattern for touch and gos, Oceano

Crosswind call: Oceano traffic, "your type and tail#" left crosswind runway 29 touch and go, Oceano

Keep doing your downwind, base, final, upwind and crosswind calls until you leave or land to a full stop.
