At the risk of contributing to the creation of more "Children of the Magenta Line", I have added the capability to download a TEC route flight plan into the X-Plane GPS or FMS.

While my personal preference is to navigate by VOR's (and occasionally ADF), I can understand that many users may prefer using GPS. It certainly makes sense to at least have it available as a cross check for manual navigation.

At this time, X-Plane is the only format supported. If you select your aircraft classification prior to downloading, the file will include altitude data (only relevant if you are using an FMS).

Simply save the file in the X-Plane "\Output\FMS plans" sub-directory and it will be available to load into the FMS or GPS (if using the 10.3 version).

That's a video that's been in my personal annual recurrent training plan for several years. The concept of reducing automation level to reduce workload is a point that is well worth repeating!

When I did the PE I-09 rating in a jet (I have a PA28-180 /A in real life), the automation kept trying to kill me. The only way I didn't end up going off course or creating a crater was by disconnecting all of it, and hand-flying to a safe landing.

I don't know how that AA video ever became public, but I sure wish there were more like it. It's raw... it's honest... and it's what we need to hear!

Ken

I stumbled across your site and it is amazing. Elegant in its simplicity - it has just exactly what I need on PE! Clean flow. Just great. Only glitch I had tonight was my "file FP on PE" -- ATC said they didn't get my FP. Not sure why. Still a great site!

Thanks for the ability to download FPs! Im with you on the magenta cripples but I'm so far behind the airplane right now VOR to VOR nav is too taxing with comms!. Working my way back to rebuild that old skill

Todd - the File button on MyFlightRoute just takes you to PilotEdge's flight plan page and fills in the form. You still need to click "File This" and get a confirmation on the PE page to have you plan filed. (If that is what you did, forgive me. Just seems like an easy mistake to make).

Pieces,

An even easier silly mistake is to Assume the N and omit it from your callsign when filing (or having it default to 3298s) that what I did when I typed in your form which was then dutifully filed as 3298s which apparently does not show. I just happend to see it tonight and fixed it! GIGO!

That would have driven me crazy

ForeFlight Intergration

ForeFlight users can now transfer their flight plan information directly from MyFlightRoute into ForeFlight. If a TEC route has already been selected, all waypoints and altitude will also be exported to ForeFlight. You need to be accessing MyFlightRoute via your iPad or iPhone for this functionality to be available.
