Haha - I think everyone flying /A actually has a GPS in the cockpit. Devs leave out a GPS and they get no sales from the RNAV reliant flightsim (and real world...) community. I think I spent a week googling GPS vs GNSS and gave up on it, seeing as an instructor will probably go through it in instrument training if I ever decide to get an Instrument Endorsement (long way to go seeing as I'm not even eligible for a PPL atm
)

GNSS (global navigation satellite system) is the generic term for all satellite based navigation systems. GPS is just one of those systems and happens to be the de facto standard in the U.S. There are however other GNSS systems (Russia's GLONASS is one example) which are in global operation and more are in development.

Indeed, the European Union is developing Galileo; India, IRNSS; and China, BeiDou. Each major world player wants their own system under their own control.
