Hi Disgraced,

What I would do is put the X-Plane standard GNS 430 in the plane as a pop up. Of course handheld GPS units are not certified equipment to use for IFR flights, but would it be legitimate in the real world to use one the for following the published routes for bravo transitions under VFR?

Unfortunately it wouldn't, again for the integrity assurance issue mentioned before. An undetected (but rare) ranging error could put you in a bad spot. The NOTAM gives some guidance on this too, referring to the use of a "suitable RNAV system".

Not that would do a real world bravo transition anytime, but good to know that the GNS430 would be an option if I vectors etc. can't be provided. I already added the GPS as apopup to the plane, just to be prepared...
