Hi again-

Ok, tried this - got an error message though. Was also not really complete directions for someone who doesn't know where to find some of the stuff...

But, it seems like though I did nothing, my radio panel is working OK. Fingers crossed.

FYI, I must have removed Saitek drivers at some point because I couldn't find any.

One issue though that I need to get past: My mixture isn't working in the Carenado any more. The axis is assigned properly, and it works in other aircraft. Any thoughts?

I want to get past this before getting on to other issues :)

thanks!
Andrew

The solution for me was: uninstall any custom Saitek drivers and software (the stuff that you download form their own website: it's all outdated and buggy and there's no need for it, the default Windows drivers are just fine)
Download and run the following tiny tool USB Enhanced Power Manager Disabler: http://uraster.com/en-us/products/usben ... abler.aspx
It will scan all your Saitek hardware and disable the enhanced power saving capabilities of the ports where it's plugged,

These simple 2 steps completely solved for me the issue with the dark Saitek Radio Panel and the intermediate control issues with the yoke and pedals.
Since then I've been using the Saitek Radio Panel on both the F33 and the C210 + REP (and any other X-Plane addons for that matter) without issues.

Hope this helps!

Hi Svilen
That worked for me, thanks :)
Looking in Programs & Features I had a module by Saitek named xplane driver or similar and removing that made my display work.
(Only tried it in the DC6 but it wasn't working prior to uninstalling the plugin and was afterwards)

btw, I found in the DC6 if my switch panel doesn't have the battery on then the lights and avionics don't work (landing lights, avionics etc. also work).
The switch panel isn't really designed for a DC6 though I guess.

Andrew, there's an axis for mixture and another one for mixture 1 (for engine 1).
Maybe the Carenado uses the other one of those two, to your other aircraft?

Just wondering if when you ran the USBEnhancedPowerManagementDisabler application was it run with administrator rights? If not, the application would not have rights to change the windows registry. Right click on the application. Select "run as administrator".

Confirm that the application was downloaded and not the source. Also as this is a C++ application, the C+ redistributable will need to be installed. However, if the PE client works the redistributable should already installed. If it still doesn't work, we will need the exact error message.

If you want to double check that the change actually took. Restart your PC and then re-run USBEnhancedPowerManagementDisabler. It should come up with a message stating the change has already been done.

Just to add my 0.02 to this thread. Ran the USBEnhancedPowerManagementDisabler on my system. Tested by putting PC to sleep and then waking back up. For the first time ever, the LED lights on the radio panel WORKED after waking up from sleep! I had gotten into the habit of turning the PC off just to get around this problem. Before If I did not restart, the sim would load but the radio display would remain off.

Shout out to svilenv for the pointer. This will save me some real time loading my sim.

Note regarding the non-functioning mixture. I sometimes have an issue with one or more of the USB attached devices aren't recognized by the system. In almost all cases it's related to not enough USB power. In my system this will happen if the separate power supply to the USB hub has accidentally been turned off. What works for me is to restore full USB power and restart. Remember that the AMOUNT of USB power is important and that there isn't enough default power in a single USB port to run all of the typical Saitek devices. The solution is a powered USB hub or directly connecting the heavy draw USB devices to a dedicated USB PC port.

To confirm, go to x-plane menu, settings, joy stick and equipment. If correctly assigned and working, the mixture bar should move when the mixture lever is moved. In my system, I also have to select the "reverse" check box for prop and mixture.

Also note that there can be multiple mixture levers. Say in the case of a multiple engine aircraft. Double check that for a single engine aircraft mixture1 and prop1 have been used.

tbaac, if you think about it it makes sense that the radio LED lights would be off if the battery is off. My system will do this as well if the battery is turned off.
