Well, with no plugins (except my Saitek plugins and the other necessary plugins) installed, I was able to connect to PE and did some pattern work at SBA last night. I was able to load the stock C172SP and then I switched to my ANW C208 and everything was hunky dory. After I landed, taxied and parked, I decided to try to load up my Carenado C208. Boom! Crash to desktop.

I did some further testing last night with a variety of plugins installed. One of the things I found is that I can have all my plugins installed and fly any aircraft, including Carenado planes when I don't have the VSPro plugin installed. I turned down my rendering options, but I still ran into the c++ out of memory error a few times.

I'm sure a lot of the problem is that I'm running Mountain Lion on a 4 year old MacBook Pro. I only have 512mb VRAM and 4gb RAM, but I was flying fine on a Mac Mini with similar specs, but running Snow Leopard. I know it's time for a new MacBook Pro........heavy sigh........

The VSPro plugin takes quite a bit of memory because of the CSL loading. It is hardcoded to load the CSL's with fairly high texture resolution, but if you can reduce your overall texture resolution, it might free up enough ram to accommodate your plugins, and payware aircraft. Just a thought.

I dropped my rendering options down and the problem persisted. I'll drop them to the bare minimums and let you know what happens.

It appears I have resolved the issue thus far by simply removing all CSL's except the ones that come loaded in the VSPro folder. I had a bunch of VA CSL's and several others and I think it was choking X-Plane as it loaded. I've dumped all the extraneous CSL's and only kept the stock VSPro and Jason Chandler's CSL's. Other than my Saitek plugins not working 100%, things are back to normal and I was able to do some pattern work tonight. Tomorrow I'll try an actual IFR flight in my Carenado C337H from BFL to SMO to see what happens. Then maybe I'll try the infamous SBA to PSP route that is infamous (at least to me) for out of memory crashes. Hopefully, I've got things cleaned up and there won't be any crashes to desktop.

I flew with PE twice yesterday with no problems! Yippee!! I flew the Carenado C337H from BFL to SMO and then SMO to SBP. The next real test will be SBP to PSP through the LA basin where X-Plane typically bogs down even without custom scenery files.
