Speed limit under the lateral boundries of class B airspace is 200kts, see CFR 14, 91.117(c)
(c) No person may operate an aircraft in the airspace underlying a Class B airspace area designated for an airport or in a VFR corridor designated through such a Class B airspace area, at an indicated airspeed of more than 200 knots (230 mph).

But you can get ATC to delete that speed restriction.

And btw, in real life, at smaller airports, that 200 kt rule is so out the window haha!

OK. Dusted off the FSX PMDG Jetstream 41 over the weekend <indistinct chewing crow sounds>. The results were "interesting".
  • I had forgotten just how fast the JS41 really is. Very easy to exceed 200 KIAS after take off. Things happen very fast after take off. Positive rate, gear up. Flaps up. Accelerate to 170 KIAS, Pitch to keep airspeed below 200. Be prepared to reduce power nearing 5,000'. Slightest loss of attention results in either over speed, over altitude, or late/missed turn.
  • The JS41's rate of climb is also impressive for a prop airplane. I do recall in the past being able to comply with SID's specifying a ROC over 550' per NM.
  • I had forgotten many of the FSX specific key stroke commands. Being flying X-plane mostly as of late.
  • My 1st attempt resulted in some "over shoot" of the first two turns. Note to self. When flying at 200 KIAS with a VOR turn > 90 degrees close to the VOR statiion, waiting until the HSI needle has moved a couple of dots is too long.
  • On the 2nd attempt I started the turn to a 30 degree intercept just as soon as the needle moved any at all. This resulted in no over shoot. However, as soon as the wings went level it was time to start the 2nd turn. The ground track actually looked more like a continuous turn just barely touching the lines. Bottom line. It's vital to stay "in front" of the airplane. Have the radio's set up ahead of time. At these speeds the turns come bam/bam/bam.
  • There really is a difference between flying this departure at 200 verses 160 KIAS. Repeating the flight on the BE58 didn't even brake a sweat.
This was fun even done off line. Need to fix/reinstall the PE client on FSX so I can do this online for real.

It looks like the JS32 has a crank on the front and instead of a throttle it has something called "spark advance"....

Bonus points if you get the reference. Triple score if you've owned one...
