Hi guys,
In my opinion, one of the things still missing from XP10 is a good moving map application/gps similar to what FSX has with its default gps (showing airspace/nearest/direct to) etc.
What are you guys currently using to fly VFR in PE?

AirTrack on my iPad. FSWidgets' iGMap is another iPod/iPad app or a stand alone app on your computer. XHSI is a great application available at the org, too, if you don't have an iPad, iPhone or iPod.

I have the moving map running ( FSWidgets' iGMap) but I am trying very hard to use it only at the beginning and the end of the flight to see where I am at the airport to help with taxiing.
The reason is simple, on VFR flight I want to use visual references looking out of the window and navigation aids without GPS.

I am using the iPhone/iPad app Skycharts Pro.
Easy setup
standard gestures to zoom in and out and move around...that is better than FSwidgets in my opinion.
Moving map on actual TAC's and sectional, IFR routes etc...
double click on an airport and get all the charts associated with that airport
METAR's at larger airports - helps with altimeter setting
elementary flight plan...good for distance and ETA
20.00 - cannot beat it!!
Great customer service

I am using naviator on my asus tablet. 5 bucks a month, and compatible with xp10 (will trick the tablets gps into showing your location on the map based on xp10 instead of tucson az or wherever u really are.) Naviator has a few small hickups, but they seem to get better every update, and the cost is a fraction of the top aviation apps available for the ipad.

Adam, the "top aviation app for IPad" is probably ForeFlight. It basically costs $6 a month. You're right, Naviator is a fraction of that....five sixths
Choice is always a good thing, but in this case, you're not saving much over the mainstream apps.

Foreflight is not, and will not be available for droid, so they told me. I thought the initial cost was much higher, plus subscriptions. Do you run foreflight?

I forgot to answer this before...

The WINDOW.
No, I'm not kidding.

There is no app acquisition cost. The subscription is $79/yr, unless you want georeferenced plates, then it's higher. Yes, I run FF in the airplane and sometimes in the sim for IFR and for proficiency with app. Most of the time I just open the charts in a browser.

See, that's what I'm talking about with ForeFlight. The charts really jack up the price. Does FF pull in the Tec routes automatically? Naviator seems oblivious of tec routes. It is a nice android app if you don't have an Ipad, but it still needs some work.
But then, I am finding out that SimAvio may be as expensive as ForeFlight, just to get a better moving map. In XP9 it seemed like I could barely read the airports on radar, even with the radar taking up half the screen. Is XP10 any better?
