Any twitch.tv broadcasters?

I know Phillip Wyatt used to do these, and last night, I can across Jacob Eiting's channel while he was practicing an IFR flight from HHR to EMT on PilotEdge. First PE call is at the 20min 20sec mark.

Is anyone else using this and happy to share?

I'm thinking this could be a great format for the workshops, too. As soon as I have the new machine, I'll start broadcasting most of the flights, as well as doing pre-scheduled flights for the workshop.

Holy mackeral... I'm not that detailed...

Does that guy fly for real? Maybe if I did I was would be that detailed for my flights. I've got the engine running, call for clearance, enter my route, taxi, takeoff, and do all the stuff on the fly. I pull up the chart based on input from Skyvector's metar and quickly brief, and fly it. Sometimes I screw up though.... maybe if I was this particular I wouldn't mess up lol.

edit: Watching the video... it looks like he has two vor receivers. Why wouldn't he just tune nav2 to the crossing radials when flying the approach instead of doing it timed? Maybe for a challenge.

You missed the part where he felt he his first VOR receiver stopped working, it's not long after the departure. He's a real world PPL, going to start on his instrument soon. He's running his checklists as he would in the plane...takes a bit longer than a 'standard sim flight', all depends how real you want to go, and that depends on what your goal is.

There are things I do in r/w (like a run up) that I don't do in the sim, and it's a conscious decision to do so. Again, it's just depends on what it is you're trying to practice.

Yeah obviously rw takes much longer... I didn't mean it that way, I just figured people weren't as detailed as the guy in the video. I suppose if I got back into flying I would do S turns, turns across a road, turns around a point, stalls, steep turns etc etc, E6B calculations, all the stuff I used to do for real. I think I fly IFR because generally you interact with ATC more, and I'm biased towards ATC hehe.

I must have missed the part about NAV1, thanks for that...

I've been listening to him on this one, and its GREAT. very entertaining, and educational. I tried to listen in to his clearance and i'll admit, that was NUTS.

Check out the I-3 and I-4 rating in the Pilot Training program. Once you know where to look up real world preferred routes, you'll rarely be surprised here :) I passed this on to Jacob, too.

I tell ya, that training program can be awfully handy! Once you get through it all, you're pretty well equipped to enjoy the skies here without too many surprises.

Jacob's reaction was classic, though, good times. We don't get to see that often as controllers!

I just created an account. Hopefully I will get some good videos of PE in action pretty soon.

I got a whacky clearance out of SQL while on PE... I think there was a part about maintain VFR until this altitude or until reaching the large crane or something hehe... It's fun, even when you think you've got the perfect route filed from the TEC page they give you something totally different :)

I learned to fly at SQL, the clearance out of there on a vfr day is nuts.
The tec routes are area specific and don't include the local airport's ifr departure instructions.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I shot the I-01 tonight on twitch. It went ok, besides the part where I took a wrong call to change frequency then changed back to the incorrect frequency and was NORDO for probably 5 minutes.
Besides that little whoops I passed, feel kind of bad about it though.

Probably had 6 people watching, not bad. I want to try and figure out a way to get it even higher. Share my love of internet airplanes. I might need to set a regular time in order to start posting about it around the net. Maybe I'll just start doing it at 8 PM PST every Mon. - Thurs. I'll think about it.
