Can I get some guidance please? I know the correct form is to use real life weather on PE, and certainly on the ratings that is what I have been doing. However, I would like to do some instrument work in the sort of really filthy weather that we specialise in Britain - 250 foot ceilings, turbulence, awkward winds, that sort of stuff. Firstly, is it bad etiquette to do that on the system, and if its acceptable, do I notify the controllers via the flight plan? Clearly I would not be seeing any of the aircraft pointed out by the controllers, and "see and avoid" would not work?

Yes, If your using anything other than real weather It helps if you put the weather conditions used in your comments

David, that's not obscure in the slightest. Simulators are designed to let you conduct a variety of operations in all sorts of the weather. We don't want to discourage that on PilotEdge.

It's not bad form at all. You can also tell the controller that you "have numbers" or use the ATIS code generated by your simulator, that way we won't read the irrelevant real-world weather out to you. Putting it in the remarks is a good idea, too.
