I am new to X-Plane. I have the basic C-172 figured out. (But not the GPS at all!) There are some radio/audio panel functions I'd like to get sorted out. As well as the GPS.

Additionally, I'd like to use some of the other planes. But I can't find any operating manuals for the included aircraft! I looked through some of the payware such as the CRJ and they have awesome manuals. Is there anything like that for the default planes?

Google is your friend! There are many manuals, including real world POH's and checklists, that you can download freely on the internet.

I know Google well! (In fact, that's how I found PilotEdge).

Perhaps I didn't word my question clearly. So I will expand a bit...

Here is an example. I decided to fly something a bit faster (than the C-172) so I opened the Columbia 400. The default view doesn't give enough of the panel to fly on instruments. I don't know how to change the view to be more useful.

Also, in pressing random keys, I was able to deploy the speed brakes but I was unable to stow them. Where can I learn the key presses for various functions of the aircraft? Where can I learn to adjust the views? The X-plane manual is particularly unhelpful, as is...google!

As it is, the C-172 is easy enough to use without a manual. I see some payware a/c that come with good manuals on how to access various features of the a/c. Is there anything similar for the default a/c?

To become comfortable with the keystrokes in X-Plane, I'd suggest spending some quality time in the Settings->Joysticks & Equipment -> Keys tab. You can peruse and alter every single keyboard assignment.

Page 36 has a section dealing with field of view which can control how much of the panel you see in a 3D cockpit.

Page 54 starts the section on the views.

Thanks for the pointers. That has helped a lot. I had just gotten "stuck". But now I've made some great strides. I'm now getting ready to try my V-03 in the Cirrus Jet. (It won't be so painfully slow as the C-172!) I think the next step will be some PE pattern work to get used to working the radio in addition to flying the jet.

In Xplane, use the down arrow to look down at more of the panel.
