Odd loss of comms this evening.

So at first I called the controller, and it appears something happened with the controllers connection. He reconnected and it appeared we could talk again. I got take off clearance and started on my IFR trip from KMHV to KRNM. I then made a call to Joshua Approach, and heard nothing back.. I could then hear the controller talking to someone else, but call after call they couldn't hear me. I changed over to SOCAL Approach, and again, I can hear the other controller, and they can't hear me.

I reset the plugin (disable/re-enabled), I disconnected and reconnected.. Still nothing.. I could hear them, they couldn't hear me.

Finally I killed X-Plane, and restarted.. The SOCAL APP controller could then hear me, and I told him what had happened.

Just thought I should post it here as it was very odd and had never happened to me before.

This was on Xplane 10.11, using the 32 bit PE client (ie. not 10.20 or anything beta.)

You can hear the first part of the trouble on this recording: http://www.pilotedge.net/recordings/hou ... _17510.mp3

The second recording that I'm going to check if my radio check calls were recorded on hasn't popped up yet on the site. I'll let you know if my calls are even on there.

Lost comms again today, same way. First half of the flight all was fine. Then about 20mins in, ATC calls me and I call back and they can't hear me. I can hear them just fine. And I call over and over to no avail.

I finally had to shut down xplane and restart to get it to work again. Any ideas?

Plugins running:
Airport navigator
FlyThisSim Interface (for SimAvio)
Xtrimwheelfix
X-toggle
Xsaitekpanels
C172
VSPro (obviously)

Xplane 10.11

I haven't changed anything recently, and its odd that it works for up to 20 mins before dying.

Thoughts???

I just let it sit for an hour and did 3 radio checks over that hour and it was fine. Very odd.

Brett,

Any chance your headset is being disconnected from the USB port during the flight? The code doesn't deal well with that at the moment.

Next time this happens, if you can, remain connected, change nothing, and drop me a PM. If I'm available, I'll hop on the voice server and help you diagnose in real time. Unfortunately, this sort of thing is almost impossible to diagnose after the fact.

Hey Keith,
I checked that, and it never gets unplugged. It's so odd as I just connected for another half hour with no loss of comms.

I'll let you know next time I see it happen.

Surprised KS hasn't mentioned this yet.. but have you checked your battery in flight? A quick search of the forums shows two instances of lost comms similar to yours...

I didn't mention it because he's still hearing ATC. If it was dead battery, he'd be hearing nada.

Good point. I'm not a XP pilot, so I'm not totally sure how it works.
