Joystick Button To Key Press

Hi again
As the title suggests, does anyone have a 'nifty' way of doing this without FSUIPC?
In the past I have had a lot of problems with FSUIPC being incompatible with my saitek switch panel. Recently I re-installed Windows, FSX and hardware drivers on this particular Sim and have managed to even get unregistered FSUIPC on it without the problems with the switch panel. I have always had to choose one or the other; now I have G3D.dll protection and my switch panel working - I feer if I register FSUIPC it may cause the old problems.
Thanks

There are other third-party button-to-keypress apps (which unfortunately, I cannot remember the name of -- but somebody will).
I should say, though, that I've been running the registered version of FSUIPC with a full collection of Saitek panels (including the switch panel) for many months with no issues. I strongly suspect something else is going on with your setup. What are you running to control the Saitek panels? --their drivers, or SPAD?

If anyone has a working copy of Joker, feel free to help Andrew out. The Joker distribution site appears to be down.

Hi
I use Saitek drivers; maybe since re-install my problem is cured?
I suppose I will have to decide if I 'risk it' and try with FSUIPC registered or use something else? Thanks for letting me know you have no issues - something for me to think about
Edit - what is Joker?

Are you using a Saitek Yoke/Joystick? With mine, I just use the Saitek "SMART" software to assign the key to the joy button. Its also handy because you can set up profiles. I have one for X-Plane which doesn't need a keyboard key and one for FSX.

If you have the software running do this:
- Click on the icon in the task bar (looks like a little yoke)
- Click "Profile Editor" in the menu
- Click "Programming in the upper right of the window
- Press the joystick button you want to assign - it should highlight in the software
- Click on the box, then press the keyboard key you want assigned.
- Press the little checkmark
- Save the profile
- Make sure the profile is active (from the task bar icon).

I have done all this; now when I reboot the yoke icon is green and when I test in the profile editor everything seems to work - will test it out on the network tommorow EARLY! when the network is quieter
I do have a small problem though, and hope a re-install of the software will not be required?!
On boot up a pop up box appears with the text:
saitek profiler does not contain a profile for this device this device has not been profiled
But I am sure as can be (until trying) that the profile is there and loaded.

Andrew, SMART is the native tool that comes with Saitek equipment that I was referring to in the email. It looks like you're on the right track.
