echo from headset microphone

I have finally been able to set up my pilot edge headset and mic , I do however still have an annoying and distracting echo in my headset (USB) when I transmit USB. I have turned down the mic volume on the headset mic and this seems to have helped, if the volume is set to high I get a high pitched squeal. It almost seems that the internal mic on the laptop is running simultaneously but I no idea how to turn that off. Has anyone experienced this ?

Im running windows 7 msfx on a HP Envy laptop

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Jason

Make sure the USB mic is the default recording device in Windows, NOT the internal mic. Also, make sure you haven't got the 'listen to this device' option enabled in Windows, which will play back all of the audio input via the selected playback device.

Keith, Thanks for responding to my post. I did indeed have the "Listen to this device activated" I must have turned that on inadvertently while trying to set up the headphones. I hope this is helpful for those that maybe having the same experience later.

Also wanted to thank you and your professional staff for all the help and patience they have shown me as I got up to speed in the PilotEdge airspace, when Avgas prices are heading above $60 an hour PilotEdge makes so much sense.

Keep up the good work!
