collisions

Kieth, you once mentioned that you had collisions turned off on PE. Does that mean that you could actually enable the feature so craft can actually crash into each other?

Negative, the code doesn't have the ability to detect a collision.

Too bad. It would add a difficulty factor to formation flight.

I did an experiment with another pilot the other night with the TCAS system. We flew right at each other on the LAX360/180 at 12000 feet. We saw each other on the screen, but no aural warning. Just passing along the info.

Correct. The stock TCAS in Xplane just draws targets on the scope. It doesn't sound any alarms, afaik.
Also, some TCAS implementation details:
- aircraft squawking stdby will not appear on TCAS. Many of the military formations that are flying around (flights of 2-4 airplanes) have the lead squawking normal and the rest squawking stdby (as is required). Consequently, you'll only see one TCAS target for a formation
- aircraft only show on TCAS if you're with +/- 3000ft, vertically. In other words, it's not a radar scope.
- TCAS is drawn based on the native Xplane multiplayer system. The number of TCAS targets you will see, then, is limited by the number of multiplayer aircraft that you have enabled
