TEC Route help.

Tonight I attempted to do a tech route from KVNY to KSNA.
The instructions I got were:
After departure fly heading 110, V186, V386, V8, SLI, Direct
Now, I was pretty sure I missed something in there, but I read it back anyway, and got "read back correct."
Ok, so I bust out Foreflight to start planning what I got.
I can't make heads or tails of it, so I think I screwed up massively somewhere.
Instead of embarrassing myself further online, I logged out. (Plus I was having an annoying SIM issue.)
So if I'm reading the IFR low chart correctly. (and I'd like to think that I am?)
The ONLY way to get from V186 to V386 reasonably is via the Filmore VOR. However, that's more like a heading of 278.
If I start out flying 110, that's taking me towards V186 going the opposite direction along the VNY 95 radial (which makes sense), but at no point does it seem that you can get to V386 by going in that direction?
Maybe I heard it wrong and it was V186 to V363 to V8? That would make perfect sense and would be pretty much the most direct path.
Am I losing my mind?
