MK Studios - KSNA FSX Scenery

To those of you that may not have come across this very good scenery of John Wayne Airport (KSNA) by MK Studios.

Here are a few screen captures of the scenery, goes well with my MegaScenery X SOCAL, Blue Sky Scenery and also Aerosofts US Cities Los Angeles which I use for Santa Catalina mostly.
anyone have any questions or want more pics just call.

Have been using this for a couple of months now, no FPS issues, there is a runway Alt problem with the first release that some aircraft have a little trouble with, namely my Realair Lancair jumps up an down a bit,
but the third release fixes this, NB not all aircraft have this problem.

Merv,

Indeed a nice scenery. Works great in P3D too.

That's great Todd,

I have been considering P3D for some time now but as it takes me a long time setting up FSX as I have so many addons and tweaks to be done, I just couldn't face starting
that all over again with P3D, but having said that, I have been looking at the new version that they intend to release in the near future ( P3D v2,0), and this one may just be the one that tips the scales
and make me jump in to P3D fully.

Yeah it's decent scenery. The runway lights are huge on my screen. And there's a large autogen exclude area that I can't seem to fix even with ADEX.

Have you also tried Shez's Ontario airport? Really nice.

The autogen exclusion is a negative, I agree. It probably has something to do with the photoreal background.

Merv, P3D doesn't require the ridiculous amount of gymnastics to set up that FSX requires (in fact I practically leaped from FS9 to P3D just to avoid having to do all that stuff). But I agree, wait for P3D v2.0 and have fun. I can't wait.

Ryan,
By " Runway Lights" I take it you are referring to runway edge lights, and this depends on the monitor and/or video card you are using to some extent they are suppose to be MIRL and on my 19" 4:3 ratio monitor they don't look too bad, move it over to my other HDMI Widescreen and it's a little bit brighter.

The other lights that you may well be referring to is the VASI lights for Rwy 19R, these are very bright (huge) and not right at all, also they are VASI instead of PAPI4 lights, Rwy 19R in this scenery also has REIL which it should not have.

There are three separate files for this MK Studios Scenery, the initial release v1.0 and after that 2 updates, I have mine setup on the initial v1.0 and then the first update, the last update file is for FSX Accelerated and I tried this but the runway edge lights are very bright more like HIRL, and this last one for some reason does not have PAPI or VASI visual approach lights neither does it have the sequenced flashing lights array for the MALSR.

But after all said and done, it's way, way. better than the default or that which was supplied for the MegaScenery X SOCAL and as is free,I don't think I'll be asking for my money back. :)

I did notice that the OM beacon sounds a tad late for the ILS Rwy 19R, so did and edit on it, if you are interested I'll give you a link for download, may have changed the DME distances on the LDA approach as well, can't remember.

Todd,
Yes there is high resolution scenery included with MK Studios KSNA, goes out to about 1 to 2 nm around the perimeter, it's quite easy to spot, different color shading and doesn't quite line up with Mega SOCAL's scenery, and as you say would contribute to the lack of autogen around.
P3D doesn't require the ridiculous amount of gymnastics to set up
Oh great Todd, that's made my day, I'm certainly looking forward to the v2.0 release then.

Thanks for the replies guys, see you in the skies

I am still running into the crash as soon as it loads free flight at KSNA. I have tried to figure out the fixes on several forums but cannot figure them out. Any tips or fixes would be greatly appreciated!!

What "crash" are you referring to? Is the aircraft crashing during taxi or on the runway or is your sim crashing.g to desktop? If it's the aircraft, turn your crash detection off in the sim. That's one of those stupid FSX quirks that occurs for some unknown reason at random airports.
