heavy traffic

Pretty substantial traffic levels all day today. I worked a 6 hour shift and felt like I was talking almost non-stop for 3-4 hours there. After a few hours break, I got back on and was told it was busy while I was away. I then worked the last shift of the night and it was busy almost the entire time as well. In short...it was busy all day!
I'm not sure if it was the 2 day closure causing some pent up demand for the service, or people decompressing after the holiday week, but it was nice to see so many people flying. For those that flew, I hope you enjoyed the increased traffic. I actually had to hold someone heading into Bullhead (KIFP) due to traffic ahead of him for the same airport, and also had to do some sequencing at SBA for an ILS 7 arrival with a VFR arrival for rwy 15R. Great fun.
Pilot quality was very high all day long, which made the job even more enjoyable! Let's see if we're able to keep the traffic going!

Sorry to drag the stats down at the end then.
Seriously, though... I had a great evening. Yes, for me it was a case of 48 hours without my crack pipe. I was dying for another hit. Especially after trying for two nights to fly on Vatsim: all loaded up, planned my flight, got clearance, departed out (all on the same frequency, but that's all you get in the "free" package

), headed out towards SNA, then *BOOM*: LAX_CTR clocks off and, in less time than it takes to say "Is anybody out there?", ZLA turns into a post-apocalyptic wasteland of CTAF fields. Exactly the same mess two night in a row... what a jip.
So, yes, forgive me for sounding thrilled at actually being able to complete my intended flight with ATC along for the ride the whole way. And I even learned that IFR flight plans with non-RNAV equipment should not include RNAV waypoints. Who'da thought.
I even got to practice the full ILS 19R (while it's still called rwy 19), thanks to some ninja vectoring to, around, and back to SLI from the main man himself.
Finally, safe and sound at SNA, I threw caution to the 6kt wind and, with just 40 minutes to go before closing, I managed to squeezed in another flight up to VNY with the Coastal Route Bravo transition, getting me closer to the confidence I need to give the V-3 rating a shot in the [very] near future.
What a night.

I should add: I'm not dissing Vatsim. It is what it is, and I still occasionally jump on. But, as was said in another thread recently, we're talking apples and oranges here (actually, a better analogy might be dried up raisins and genetically-modified oversized grapefruits).

Pretty heavy again today. When I logged on there were already 8 flying! Keith was talking so fast he started getting hoarse...LOL...not a lot of breaks in the conversation. It was great. Good job controllers!

Hi Henry, my voice probably sounded odd because I was trying to sneak in lunch

Traffic was reasonable for a little while there today, but that holiday rush was something else. The Dec 29 7pm recording was 38 mins long (out of a possible 60 mins):

I wish you guys would advertise a little more. I've been flying X-plane for a couple of years now and have used VATSIM occasionally, but I literally did not know Pilotedge existed until I heard it mentioned randomly in a video reviewing some X-Plane scenery a few weeks ago. There's got to be more guys like me out there - especially on the X-Plane side where the in-game ATC is barely functional. I feel like a banner ad on x-plane.org (which I check at least twice a week for new scenery etc) and similar FSX sites would pay real dividends in bringing new simmers.

Until then spread the word!

Thanks for the feedback. We did a promo with the .org a while ago, it might be time to try another one. I am considering an avsim ad.
