Just to let PE know

I was flying - taking my V-02 test - one mistake that I was aware of - on TWR freq and calling them SoCal Departure.

Then I lost my internet connection and SB was not responding.

I kept waiting for the freq change to SoCal Approach 135.4 - and two calls for a radio check did no good.

At that point I just shut everything down.

Not sure how or if I should somehow report what happened so I choose the forum.

I really like the service and how it makes you concentrate.

Stick with it. PilotEdge and SoCal in general can be daunting at first. Once you get over the technical difficulties and build a little confidence, you will keep coming back for more. I am a private pilot and felt completely behind the curveball when I started flying on the network. Everybody makes little mistakes on the network, even the guys that have been here since day one.

Welcome to PilotEdge! Don't worry a bit. Before you know it, you'll be completing the instrument ratings.

If there's a problem with the pilot client and it stops responding (we've heard this happening for some people when their net connection dies), then simply pause your sim, restart the pilot client, unpause the sim and reconnect to the network and continue the flight. Just consider it a glitch in the simulation process. Stop the simulation, fix the glitch, then get back to the simulation.

How does that affect the status of something like a V-2 rating? Would you have to repeat the entire test, or could you pick up from a midpoint?

Reconnect and continue. A disconnect/reconnect will never cause you to fail a rating. That's an external factor that is not a reflection of your knowledge of rules and regulations, or airmanship.

Thanks for the information. All is good as I took the V-02 exam yesterday afternoon and was informed that I passed.

I have been flying online on VATSIM since December 2011 and have been amazed at how little I understood about VFR flying. Especially in airspace like SoCal.

I am watching (as time permits) the first training video about the various types of airspace (A, B, C etc.) and learning new things every few minutes of the video.

I have used SkyVector before for flight planing, but the video is showing that I have barely scratched the surface.

Thanks Keith and PE. I am very impressed with the ATC personnel.
