Hot off the printer from work...\

ZLA ground stop due to ATC Zero - I guess they're having ERAM (flight data and radar processing) issues.\
\
Is PE simulating this lol?

DARC = Direct Access Radar Channel
ERAM = En Route Automation Modernization

"Modernization"

Nothing more "modern" than having a computer system crash!

Edit: Looks like it was the ERAM. Here is a link to what ERAM is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ERAM

Edit: And the stop was lifted at about 3:20 PDT, so the total outage was about 1 hour long.

I was told they lost both ERAM and EBUS (the new DARC system)... so they had primary radar but no secondary radar. TRACONs/Towers were unaffected as far as I know.

This is why controllers still learn non-radar ;)

Yea I was listening to SNA on live ATC and it sounded like controlled chaos as the controllers were telling the crews needed all flight plans had to be resubmited

As there was a system crash and all plans were dumped.

I work in IT and I would not want to be one responsible for that outage.
