ZLA HAS EXPERIENCED AN ERAM/AUTOMATION FAILURE AND IS UNABLE TO

ENROUTE FLIGHTS. HOLDING AND DIVERSIONS ARE ALREADY BEING
EXPERIENCED IN THE 1ST TIER ARTCCS. DUE TO SIGNIFICANT VOLUME THAT

Nothing more "modern" than having a computer system crash!

Edit: And the stop was lifted at about 3:20 PDT, so the total outage was about 1 hour long.

I was told they lost both ERAM and EBUS (the new DARC system)... so they had primary radar but no secondary radar. TRACONs/Towers were unaffected as far as I know.

This is why controllers still learn non-radar

Yea I was listening to SNA on live ATC and it sounded like controlled chaos as the controllers were telling the crews needed all flight plans had to be resubmited

As there was a system crash and all plans were dumped.

I work in IT and I would not want to be one responsible for that outage.

I picked a hell of a day to stop sniffing glue.
