TEC Routes

It was my understanding that TEC routes were "canned" and that I could help the controller by filing in advance for it even if I do not have to do so.
Today, flying form KMYF to KWHP I requested the Tec Route SANN15 and to my surprise a completely different route and altitude was assigned to me by clearance delivery.
Just out of curiosity, and I do understand that I must respect controllers instructions, what is the point of filing for a ted route (after entering everything on my flight computer) if finally the controller can change that route and altitude? Can I request that the original TEC route be cleared?
Thank you,
Sergio

Hello,

Based on the information you provided I can't yet answer what happened here as I don't see a flight record of your flight in PEAware.

What type of aircraft were you flying during this flight?

You were flying a PC12, a fast turboprop. The controller amended your route to the SANN16 TEC route as the SANN15 is for slow propeller driven aircraft.

Kevin,
Thank you for the explanation. Yes, that was indeed the exact route that was given to me. Now I know.
At the moment the plan was changed I choose to cancel the flight plan on PilotEdge and continued my flight on Vatsim exactly as I had it programmed, and now I know that I did something wrong. That is why I love PilotEdge, it is a never ending learning experience.
Best regards,
Sergio

always best to pick up the clearance prior to programming the avionics, that'll save some angst.

also, you can always ask the controller why the reroute occurred. disconnecting is a relatively extreme option.

lastly, routes other than what you might expect do occur in real life, it's part of ifr flying :)
