Does anyone else's computer run a little hotter when running X Plane 10? When I run X Plane 10 compared to P3D the difference is noticeable just with me sitting next to the PC. I have not ran any actual CPU temps, etc. Just curious.

xp runs the cpu at 100 percent, so it will run hot.

X-Plane also does a "better" job of using today's modern multi-core CPU's.

FSX is almost completely a single thread process. So having multiple cores does little to improve speed. You could have a huge 6 way CPU and FSX would only run as fast as the speed of a single CPU.

P3D is better than FSX in the multi-core department. As P3D improves, the use of multiple cores will also improve.

It would help to compare the rendering options between the sims. For example, if X-Plane is cranked way up while P3D has more conservative settings this could make the difference seem greater.

Finally. There's a bug in some older X-Plane beta versions that don't play nice with Radeon graphics cards. So if not running the latest X-Plane version, consider updating.

Mine runs a little warm but my cpu doesn't run at 100% - it's typically around 16% most times.

My GPU on the other hand is probably practically melting with 3 widescreen displays all being run from one card.

Rich, I stand corrected. It'll run one core at 100% CPU. It'll run AI flight models, scenery loads and a few other things on other cores.

Now that you mention it when I look at the individual cores I do have one core that is way up there I'd say averaging around 80% but yeah all the other cores are very low bringing the total average around 16% for me.

Still considering if I want to go the separate PC for each screen route though... with 3 widescreens I tend to get some freezes once in a while as the weather updates. Usually only lasts a few seconds but is annoying none the less... not sure if it's several thousand dollars of annoying though!
