TEC SANN36 Question

So I was flying a B200 (/M) and was about to request the TEC route from San Diego Brown KSDM to Santa Barbara KSBA. When I checked the route MZB293R V27 SXC V208 VTU VTU282R KWANG /8000 it all made sense, except that first leg requiring an intercept of the MZB 293 radial inbound to MZB, so at MZB you need to make a 180 and fly northwest on V27 on essentially the same 292 track towards BLANC. Since I didn't "get it" I filed a different route. I realize SANN36 "it is what it is", but can anyone who really knows the airspace explain why ?

So that first leg doesn't take you inbound to MZB. The DP from KSDM actually gets you to MZB... Rwy 8L, climbing left turn,
thence...Rwy 26R, climbing right turn, thence...
...via heading 280° to intercept MZB R-160 to MZB
VORTAC. Then from MZB you fly the MZB293R outbound to intercept V27

Hope that makes sense.

Understand your point about the KSDM DP going inbound on the 160 radial to MZB. But departing MZB, looks like V27 is the MZB 304 radial, so the MZB 293 R outbound doesn't intercept it. I must be missing something !

The intent is that you fly the MZB293R until you intercept V27 between PACIF and SXC (way out there).

The myflightroute.com SkyVector link helps a lot. I get it now. The intercept is indeed...way out there. Many thanks everyone !
