Hi, can anyone provide a link to the proper description on how to transition the KLAX bravo along the shoreline.

I've found a few bit and pieces which give you an idea of how to do it but no full description like you get on the TAC chart for the other transitions.

For clarification on the question. Are you talking about the fixed wind Coastal transition or the helicopter Shoreline transition?

In case that sounds like a dumb question the reason I ask is that a lot of people say shoreline when they mean coastal.

West heli chart has the Shoreline transition: http://skyvector.com/?ll=33.63450438616 ... 201&zoom=4

Aha, exactly what I was after. That's the one place I never thought to look. I should really study the heli chart more!

A couple more questions. Say you want to transition the bravo via the shoreline and then take the Imperial route along the south eastern edge of the bravo, what is the correct way to ask for that routing? Also on the Imperial route would you follow the LAX 076 degree radial until the Harbor Freeway then follow the road?

Sorry for all these questions but trying to get my head around helicopter routes around the bravo.

A review of LA East and West helicopter route charts would make a great workshop session......if only we knew an experienced helicopter pilot to lead the workshop (*cough) ChrisS (aka helipilot7) (*cough) .

Indeed if Chris could add some input into this that would be great.

I'm not a helicopter pilot, but I don't think it matters for the purpose of this question. "Request Shoreline Route then the Imperial Route." The two hook up together so there isn't even an interim random route to deal with between them, you just go straight from one to the next.

Reading the text for the Imperial Route, it's entirely based on following a single freeway. You could use the VOR for backup, but it should be flown visually.

What I wonder is whether they coordinate the transition with HHR tower for you or send you over to the HHR tower freq. I can't imagine anyone conducting ops at HHR would be north of the rwy 25 centerline, so I'm guessing it can be pointed out to HHR without swapping the pilot over but if anyone knows, that would be interesting.

Just done the shoreline bravo transition twice on the network. Wow that's pretty sporty in the sim let alone real life. Gonna have to see if there are any YouTube videos of that in real life.

Edit: here's it done in real life https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1c-Lgnrfqo4
