Issues with making a video of PE flights with ATC?

I'd like to take a crack at making some Youtube videos of my PilotEdge experiences but am having issues recording ATC. I can record sounds from the sim and my voice but nothing from the controllers gets recorded. I've tried Shadowplay as well as Audacity audio recorder. I get the same issue with audio - no controllers. Does anyone have tips or suggestions? Thanks!
Right now I am using David Clark headsets with a USB adapter. Also, I am not using any 3rd party sound card.

You would need to use a video recording tool which allows you to capture multiple audio output devices. OR, you could set it up so your default sound device is your headset. This way EVERYTHING will come through the headset (including engine noise). Then, just set your video capture tool to record the audio coming from headset, instead of speakers (or if it's recording the default audio device, then it'll do that anyway). There's several ways to get it done.

I did the latter but it didn't work for some reason. Set up my headset as default in Windows 7. Everything is recorded except PilotEdge. Strange.

Todd, you're saying that everything was going to the headset, but when you recorded it, the ATC audio wasn't there? That's odd...I ran that exact configuration last night on twitch with no issue.

Yes.
