Well, I just had my first session on PilotEdge... it lasted 10 minutes, with me giving up after asking for clearance!!! LOL, so I politely cancelled the IFR, and need someone to give me a helping hand... I know abit about filing flight plans, but completely had a heart attack when the controller read back some LOOP6 departure thingy... (KLAX-KLAS). I don't know how to remember the sheer amount readback to me - ofcourse it would help if I knew myflight planning, and ability to multi-task managing the plane from cold and dark.

I'm using X-Plane 10, and am familiar with the 757 Professional, so I'm just after someone with the same plane to do a shared cockpit flight with to help me break the ice and have some familiarity!

I think you would benefit from the Pilotedge Pilot Training Program. Hop in something light and fly all of the ratings. You'll appreciate the accomplishment when you're done.

Yep, don't jump straight into IFR. I wouldn't start out with an airliner, warm up with something like the V1 or (V3 if you know what you're doing - probably in a single or light twin). If you're completely new, the PE Workshops are amazing resources. Watching a few videos online of people flying on the network also helps build up familiarity with the radio. Just a quick little thing - try flying /A for a while when you're learning how to fly on the network, it builds up your task-management skills so that you're constantly thinking ahead (as opposed to programming a FMC and sitting there the whole time).

Edit - While I would still recommend the above-mentioned path of working your way up, if you insist on doing airliner routes right away, I would follow the I9 transcript, which is from KLAS-KLAX. However, that would mean that you skipped over the other 11 ratings (soon to be 20), so you might miss some stuff.

Yep, IFR LAX-LAS in an airliner is really throwing yourself into the deep end there. Start with the introductory flight and work your way through the ratings.
