Am I a Real I-11

I completed my I-11 rating on May 02, 2008 when Keith was with the zLAARTCC on VATSIM. Am I still considered an I-11 pilot in the eyes of the PE users or should I do it again?

I will admit that the training system helped with my flying skills enough that I was able to complete my RW IFR rating on 6/17/2010.

Thanks,
John

If you have completed a rating in the VATSIM version of the program (the ZLA Pilot Cert Program) and you have also flown on PilotEdge, then use the Home->Feedback page to let us know. We will ensure that your name is listed on both the VATSIM and PilotEdge version of the rosters.

Once your account is configured to appear on both rosters (VATSIM and PE), any rating results will be displayed on both networks simultaneously. This linkage needs to happen only once.

Ken,

Thanks for the quick reply and the link to verify my ratings. I guess my main questions is there any significant difference between the 2?

Thanks,
John

John,

Keith is the expert (since he wrote them both), but I don't believe there are currently any substantial differences between the ratings at http://training.pilotedge.net/page/ratings and http://pilotcerts.laartcc.org/page/ratings.html which is why they will be considered interchangeable if you forward a note per the instructions above.

John,

The I-11 rating was updated a while ago when they relocated the St George updated and got rid of that awesome DME arc approach. The new I-11 has you fly the ODP (with a hold if you don't climb fast enough, so I'd recommend climbing slowly so you can practice the climbing hold) out of KAJO and then shoot the arc at VCV. I would consider trying the new I-11, but it's up to you.

Otherwise, we can transfer your rating over to PE at your request.

Do it while you can, that option will go away at some point.

John,

That said, if you're looking for a proficiency program to stay sharp, going through all the ratings again really isn't a bad idea. The voice CTAF works here so the non-towered ops are more realistic, and there are far more frequency changes compared to doing it on VATSIM.

You don't have to do the flights as official rating flights, you could just mimic the flight paths for something to do. However, if you want them to pay a bit more attention to you, then feel free to request it as a rating.

The controllers won't know that you have your I-11, you can request the previous ratings with no problem. When they submit the result, Peter (who handles the result processing) will notice that you already have the I-11 and will leave your record as is. This way, you can go through the ratings, with actual grading, but the grading won't count (if that all makes sense).

Thanks guys. The reason that I also ask is that I saw the I-9 has the option of being removed so prop guys didn't have to fly that one. IIRC that was the KLAS-KLAX flight.

I might redo the I-ratings as it would give me some extra scan time. I don't get enough in the RW and any practice helps. I am really enjoying the Milviz BE55 and this would be a good test for me.

It looks like you were added to the PE roster back in 2011, btw :)

I started the I-01 last night and plan to work my way through the I-xx ratings again. That won't take away from the I-11 that I already have will it?
