Just out of curiosity...

How exactly do the controllers see where our aircraft are located? Is it by simply reading the lat/long coordinates exported (in my case) by FSX?
The reason I ask is because I've just recently become aware of how erroneous some of the airfield locations in FSX really are. For example, I was planning a flight from St. George, a small Class E in southwestern Utah just inside the PE coverage areas. Loaded up the sim, fired up the Flight1 GTN to lay in a plan through one of the Grand Canyon SFRA corridors, and discovered that the GTN, which reads my position straight from the lat/long reported by FSX, shows me being some 5.5 nm from St. George's real-world coordinates!
Which got me thinking, what would the controllers see if I attempted to start a flight from KSGU, then? Would they see me out in the boonies 5 miles northwest of where they see the airfield?
