"climb to VFR on top" on PE?

Yesterday there was an interesting article on PilotWorkshops.com about "climbing to VFR on top". http://www.pilotworkshop.com/tips/atc_vfr_ontop.htm
This procedure is also described in Keith´IFR workshop.

I wonder if this is simulated at PE as well? I tried it once but was not successful, the controller did not accept it, but maybe I did something wrong...

How would be the procedure for applying clearance: File an IFR flight plan and then ask for clearance to climb VFR on top instead of full clearance to the destination airport?

Thanks, Thomas

VFR on top is allowed on PE. If you have the details of when you were denied VFR on top I can look into that a bit more.

Your method of requesting VFR on top works fine and should be accepted. Note that there is no need to file an IFR flight plan prior (but you can if you want).

Hi Peter, thanks for the answer. I do not remember when I tried it, was some time ago...anyhow - now I know it is supported :-)
