Hey guys.

Quick Intro, Name is Seb, From Australia and new to the PE service. Only thing is, curse those dam time zones. PE goes to sleep during my prime time :( Otherwise, I am having a blast and have past my V2 so far in 2 days. Not quite feeling ready for V3.

Anyway. I have a couple of questions regarding X-plane 10 and Pilot Edge. Mostly weather, So I planned a nice little VFR flight from John Wayne (KSNA) to Victorville (KVCV) aka Southern Cali Logistics. Got my VOR's sorted, had notable landmarks in place and was feeling confident in the flight. Loaded up X-Plane with real weather and real time, appeared at KSNA with scattered clouds at 2000 and overcast at 4000. Thought to myself, yikes, this might not work. Went did some radar checks and all weather radar services i could see showed SOCAL area as clear skies. Figured, I would see how i go adapting to the situation and got the Attis for KVCV, Clear skies. Brilliant. Stay under the weather till it clears to the north.

Well, that was probably not the smartest idea and in real life, I could of ended up in an emergency very quickly. Ended up diverting to Ontario (KONT) and living to fight another day.

So, I am wondering -
1) What settings do people use to set weather when connecting to PE?
2) Does the PE service send weather to your Sim?
3) If I set specific weather and time, how will that affect my communications with Controllers, most notably Towers when they give wind readings.

Thanks in advance and safe flying.
Seb

Most of us use real world weather unless there's a specific reason to use something different. This allows for VFR flights on IMC days. Or IMC flights on VFR days. Normally you just inform the controller when you are not using real world weather

No. weather is the end user's sim responsibility.

Doesn't really matter. Just ignore any winds that the tower gives as you should know that your weather is different.
