Sim Drop Protocol

Today I was in the middle of a Coliseum North transition when my sim crashed. I was able to load up again in about 3-4 minutes, and the sim keeps 10 one-minute-increment scenario backups, so I would have been able to load back directly into my prior position, freq, etc. I decided not to, though, because I figured the PE controller would prefer not for a bogey to reappear in the middle of a bravo. So I went ahead and finished my flight without reconnecting.

Is this indeed your guys' preference? Somewhere over the AZ desert I figure it may not matter. But in the Bravo I presumed it does.

Also, I think it was JX working today. He did a great job teaching me two things about following and the Bravo transitions I didn't know. Thanks for that.

Good question! I had a sim crash recently on a complicated approach and I opted not to reconnect because the flight was pretty much over with anyway and there wasn't much value in having ATC all the way to parking.

But I'm dying to know what those 2 things were!

The key to this one is the amount of time that a disconnect happened and if it was a sim crash vs just a PE disconnect

For sim crashes if you have a save you should be allowed to reconnect and "resume" however ideally you should connect on the ground, ask permission to load your last save then load the save.

For disconnects if it's a momentary thing obviously reconnect. Same is true for a couple of minutes. Beyond that it's a judgement call. VFR flight in the middle of no where, reconnect and just "start over" with the request. Miniroute transition, maybe not. In all cases if you have *any* disconnect let us know, the system will reset your transponder and we will need to reissue it.
