X-Plane freezes when connecting to Pilotedge

Hi:
Yesterday when connecting to pilotedge X-Plane completely froze on me. FPS went from above 40 to 1 as soon as I connected to the network. Whats interesting is that once I was able to disconnect (it took a while since it was really slow) FPS went right back up to 40+. Tried several times connecting/disconnecting with the same results. Even restarted my computer and the problem persisted.
Please note that I have been a long time PE user and have never had this problem before. Two things come to mind that could potentially have triggered this:
1) The night before I flew on Vatsim via Xsquawkbox (dont know if there may be a conflict here). I hadnt used VATSIM in a while (and never on this new computer).
2) I Changed to a new computer (about a month ago) and when installing Pilotedge (newest version) noticed that the 2010 C++ redistributable file fow 64 bits (which is indicated needs to be downloaded for PE to work well) is no longer available. But i had been using Pilotedge many times in the past month with no problems.
By the way its not a computer problem...mine is new and very powerful (see specs below):
Intel Quad Core i-7 6700K Processor overclocked to 4.4GHz Plus Ultra-High End Water Cooler
64 Gigabytes of DDR-4 3000MHz DRAM
1TB M.2 SSD boot drive providing read and write speeds of over 500MB/s
8TB (8 Terabyte) Internal Cold Storage Archive Drive
Nvidia GTX 1080 with 8GB GDDR5X Memory
Thanks in advance for your help:
