Brown KSDM vs Tijuana MMTJ

Maybe you've made the same mistake? I believe this is actually my second time I've tried to do this. The controller caught it and informed me, otherwise I probably would have landed there. How can this happen? I briefed the visual and proximity of MMTJ before I received vectors to the field. I know I've been flying and heard other pilots do the same thing, and I wasn't going to make the same mistake twice - but I did. I think for some reason, FSX/P3D renders Tijuana first (the airport is a little larger I think) and maybe that's what I saw.

Anyway this is just 100% human error -a problem with the headset holder (or thankfully, in the sim, PEBKAC). I know this happens in real life too, but it's silly that I almost did it again in the sim! ARGH!

I've done Camarillo instead on Oxnard on the "dealer's choice" I rating lol

Yeah I've actually had something similar in real life, but on the ATC end. I worked a no box (no transponder) inbound to Duluth once, and told him to report 2 mi final. Time goes by... I'm looking all over with the binos for him (and so is my coworker).... and I say something along the lines of "N12345 verify you're 2 miles from DLH airport?" "Affirm!"

*What the deuce - where is this guy?!?!*

Turns out he WAS 2 miles from Duluth Sky Harbor (it's a small uncontrolled field about 10 SE of KDLH).

This was when I was newly minted cert on local (tower) so now I know better but it was funny!

I was flying a NPA to SDM broke out lined up for Tijuana. Joe kept me from landing and vectored me back to SDM. Parked me at customs lol.

Its amazing how close the border is during NPA maneuvering!
