Is there an AFK timer?

I sometimes just like to connect and listen. Then I get disconnected in 5-10 minutes automatically. Is that something wrong on my end?
I would say yes. I've witnessed clients crashing when model matching isn't quite set up correctly. PilotEdge won't kick you off unless you are somewhere you aren't supposed to be, like a taxiway or runway. If you're using X-Plane, you can check your log file to see if anything is going on there.
Have you tried the PE receiver? With the receiver, you don't even need to connect to the network with your simulator. It works similarly to LiveATC.
