Sorry if this is a repeat question. I searched and couldn’t find the answer. How does flight following work to a non towered field on the system? Do I just tell the current atc I’m with that I have the field and to cancel? Can I even request flight following to a non towered on the system? An example would be North Las Vegas (KVGT) class D to Beatty (KBTY) non towered.

You would cancel flight following when you no longer need it (typically, when you have the field in sight, but if you want to terminate sooner, you can). If you don't cancel it, ATC will, at some point, cancel the radar service.
